Segun Ogundipe has been sentenced to five years in a UK prison after a London court found him guilty of sexual assault, a crime that left his victim with lasting trauma.

The Southwark Crown Court heard how the 33-year-old Nigerian national methodically groomed and attacked his victim, with the judge condemning the “calculated cruelty” of his actions.
The survivor’s emotional statement about shattered trust and recurring nightmares silenced the courtroom.
Under UK immigration laws, Ogundipe will be deported to Nigeria after serving his sentence.
He will first be transferred to an immigration detention center before being flown to Lagos, where Nigerian authorities will place him under monitoring as a registered sex offender.
Community leaders in London’s Nigerian diaspora expressed concern about the damage to the community’s image, while legal experts highlighted the UK’s firm stance on foreign sexual offenders—punishment followed by removal.

Ogundipe’s name will remain on sex offender registries in both countries for life.
