Seyi Makinde urges NFF to host Super Eagles games in Ibadan, highlighting the state’s facilities and promising robust support for football growth
The Oyo State Governor made the appeal during the 2025 Annual General Assembly of the NFF on Saturday.

Makinde emphasised that hosting Super Eagles games would significantly boost Oyo State’s sports economy.
“Oyo State, especially Ibadan, is ready to host big events, including Super Eagles games. Come and see our facilities, and I promise to give you the needed support,” he said.
The governor described football as a powerful tool for unity in Nigeria and reiterated his government’s readiness to back major sporting events.
He also commended the NFF and Nigeria Premier Football League leadership for enhancing officiating and improving league organisation.
Ibadan, Makinde pointed out, already possesses world-class facilities capable of hosting international matches. His call reflects a strategic push to position Oyo as a hub for football excellence and economic growth.
