The vice president-elect Kashim Shettima, on Thursday, paid a visit to General Ibrahim Babangida, a former military leader, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former head of state. During Ramadan, Shettima, who was in Minna, the capital of the Niger State, paid separate homage to the two past presidents of Nigeria.
According to sources close to the two leaders, Shettima’s travels were not unrelated to the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) government, which would be headed by President-elect Bola Tinubu.
The sources said Tinubu is seeking the support of the two elder statesmen. It was further gathered that the move by the Vice President-Elect was to consult with the two former military leaders over a plot by some politicians to install an interim government as confirmed by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday.
