SKOT Impact Academy launches to empower young PR professionals in Nigeria with hands-on, tuition-free training to thrive in global communications

SKOT Impact Academy, a social impact initiative by global consultancy SKOT Communications, has officially launched to empower early-career professionals with the skills needed to thrive in Nigeria’s dynamic communications industry.

The tuition-free, six-week program is tailored for young talents with one to two years of experience and aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world communications practice.

Participants will be trained in storytelling, brand building, and strategic narrative design, positioning them for impactful careers in public relations and media.

Speaking at the launch, Tokunboh George-Taylor, Founder of SKOT Impact Academy and CEO of SKOT Communications, described the initiative as a platform to develop purposeful leaders in PR.

“SKOT Impact Academy is where young professionals are equipped not only with technical skills, but also with the confidence and clarity to lead with purpose,” she said.

The program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Quality Education and Decent Work, and is designed to remove access barriers while providing world-class instruction.

With more than 400 applications received for its inaugural cohort, the Academy reflects growing demand for practical, accessible education in the African communications landscape.

“By investing in talent at the start of their careers, we’re building a pipeline of global storytellers who will shape how Africa is seen and heard,” said Nkechi Ali Balogun, a leading voice in the industry. “This is a defining moment for Nigerian PR.”

Delivered in both virtual and hybrid formats, the SKOT Impact Academy will run three cohorts annually, offering flexibility for diverse learners.

Alongside it, the broader SKOT Academy offers two other flagship programs: SKOT Masterclasses, which upskill mid-to-senior-level professionals, and SKOT Elevate, a bespoke training solution for organizations.

All programs focus on hands-on learning, industry relevance, and transformative storytelling.

Participants receive access to real-world case studies, mentoring, and network-building opportunities that prepare them to lead conversations, reshape narratives, and drive impact across sectors.
