Nkosi Nathi, a prominent South African film director, has expressed deep sorrow after discovering through a DNA test that he is not the biological father of his newborn child.
In an emotional statement shared on social media, Nkosi recounted his journey from learning about the pregnancy to bonding with the baby girl, whom he had cherished since before her birth.
“Today was meant to celebrate my first Father’s Day. I’m shattered beyond words,” Nkosi wrote. “Nine months ago, I was introduced to the news that I would be a father. I cared for my unborn child and she became my world. I spent some time with her and it was a life-changing experience.”
The devastating revelation came after recent events prompted him and the child’s mother to agree to a DNA test, which confirmed that Nkosi is not the biological father. “The results came back negative, I am NOT her father,” he shared.
Despite the heartbreak, Nkosi chose to share his story to encourage other men to undergo DNA testing when circumstances warrant it. “I’m making this post to encourage other brothers out there: take the test. It is uncomfortable but the truth is vital,” he emphasized. “With all that has happened, I still want to be a part of the better and responsible generation of men.”
Acknowledging the support of his family and friends during this challenging time, Nkosi affirmed his commitment to healing and maintaining his mental health. “I’m traumatized but stable, on a healing journey, and taking care of my mental health,” he stated. Despite the personal setback, he expressed enthusiasm for upcoming film projects, highlighting his determination to continue his creative work.
