Suspected terrorists launched a deadly assault on Libere Gari village in the Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State, resulting in the loss of six lives and leaving numerous others injured. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, numbering over 50 and heavily armed, descended on the village, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire that sent residents fleeing in panic.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating, “Over 50 heavily armed terrorists surrounded the village and opened fire indiscriminately, sending panicked residents fleeing for their lives.” The attackers not only took lives but also inflicted significant damage to property, burning 25 motorcycles and looting food supplies from village barns, exacerbating the plight of the already impoverished community.

This brutal attack comes in the wake of a similar assault on the neighboring community of Sabon Gari Libere, where three civilians lost their lives just a day prior. The recurrence of such violence underscores the escalating insecurity plaguing the Kajuru area. According to the source, the region has witnessed a surge in attacks, with terror groups believed to be finding refuge in the vast Kajuru forests that extend into neighboring Chikun.

The persistent threat of violence has cast a shadow of fear over the region, with local residents living in constant apprehension of further attacks. Despite attempts to reach out to the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, for comment, no response was received at the time of reporting.
