The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Abdul-Azeez Ibrahim, a 28-year-old student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun Campus. Abdul-Azeez, also known as ‘Butcher,’ was apprehended with seven guns and assorted charms. The TASUED student was paraded alongside other suspects at the State Headquarters, Eleweran.
According to the police, Abdul-Azeez Ibrahim was a member and the armorer of the Aiye Confraternity, an association known for unlawful activities and violence. The police revealed that Butcher’s gang had been terrorizing and launching attacks on innocent students within the institution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Mustapha Abiodun Alamutu, addressed journalists during the press briefing, providing details about the arrest. He mentioned that Abdul-Azeez was traced to his hideout, leading to the recovery of firearms from his room.
Abdul-Azeez, however, denied ownership of the charms found in his possession. He claimed that the charms belonged to an individual named Rasaq, a cobbler with whom he shared a residence along with another person named Caleb. The TASUED student stated that when he discovered the guns on January 16, 2024, he informed Rasaq, who promised to retrieve them before the police conducted a raid on the house.
