The family of a Nigerian lady, late Stella Ifeoma Abugu, has accused the officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, of being responsible for her death.
In a petition to the Inspector General of Police, by the family’s solicitor, it was alleged that late Stella was not only murdered but also raped too.
According to the petition, the lady was arrested and whisked away in place of her fiance, Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba Village, Lokogoma, Abuja on September 10, 2020 at about 5:00pm by men of SARS operatives, whose identities as at the time of this report and her corpse was produced the following day.
The family alleged that the officers invaded deceased fiance’s apartment in search of Ugwunma and arrested the deceased Stella when the former whereabout was unknown.
Eye witnesses claimed the deceased was healthy when she was whisked away and an investigation by the family at the SARS Unit in Guzape, Abuja revealed that the SARS officers were on illegal duty.
