The truth and failure of our elders resulting into the political impasse in Ogun State

Ogun State

Otunba Gbenga Daniel

The present situation in Ogun state needs to be put in proper perspective for future generations to be well informed.
In life we must be careful of wolf in human skCV DCin regardless of their personality and age.

The simulated media attack going on against OGD is from a multifaceted angles from those that are supposed to play the role of elders and those we assumed to be fathers. Politics is heralded in gamut of personal interest that made to look like state interest.

The election that brought OGD to power in 2003 where he defeated an incumbent with the highest No of votes still unequal in the states history.

That was the beginning of problem which till date those party regardless of being Christians never forgave him for upturning the status quo.

Luckily for him, he ran such a purpose driven and unparalleled administration that in spite of all odds can not be wished away in the states history either now or in the future.

Clearly our elders have a major role to play in the unfolding scenario and we can only trust in their capacity and judgement to do right no matter whose ox is gored.

If the elders have played their God given role, the situation among Osoba, OGD, SIA and PDA, all Chief Executives of the state, past and present would have been better managed.

My own personal believe is that
made a mistake by giving a critical support at the critical hour to enable him clinch the 19,000 votes with which he won the 2019 election.

All attempts to provide subtle feedback to him were rebuffed so much so that he asked respected traditional rulers to tell OGD to leave him and his government severely alone and many of our Elders supported this position and urged the Governor on.

Further research also showed that PDA neither forgave nor forget that defeat whereas OGD have moved on believing erroneously believing he has another compatriot to help tackle the various challenges confronting the state at that time. How wrong.

When PDA was going around with campaign of calumny saying OGD should not interfere in his Government. Traditional rulers and some elders in Ogun State were advising OGD to leave PDA alone.

Despite that for the sake of the Party, OGD still went round campaigning for him and all the Parties candidates even after the Presidential and National Assembly elections until a few days to the State elections when PDA openly told me personally in the presence of his Aids that he does not need OGD or his structure to win his election.

Naturally rather that do anything against the Party and his numerous friends, he then elected to be quiet. The result is what we have all seen.

Kudos to him that despite the provocation he remained calm and one could imagine if he decided to publicly endorse another candidate from another party as he did in 2019 to favour PDA. The rest would have been history.

Unfortunately, PDA thought they loved him but what they were saying was that the dog that will get loss will not listen to the whistle of the hunters. I wish PDA could come down from high horse and go into a solitary place to think beyond politics.

PDA should tell himself the truth because I see him like the horse of the king that is missing. Those that want the king to see the horse and those who don’t want the king to see the horse are all looking for the horse.
PDA think he can fool everyone all the time, acting and believing that he is the wisest person in Ogun state because of his mischievous oratory.

You can fool some people some of the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
