His appointment, confirmed by Spurs on Thursday, follows the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou after a disastrous league campaign.
The 51-year-old Dane brought Brentford into the Premier League in 2021 and firmly established them as a competitive top-flight side.
Over seven years in charge, Frank won 136 of 317 matches and became a symbol of unity, ambition, and resilience at the West London club.
In a heartfelt message to supporters, Frank said his time at Brentford had been more than just a job. “The time has come for me to move on.
But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford, not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters,” he said.
He praised the collective effort behind Brentford’s rise, highlighting the spirit and togetherness that defined their success.
“Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage, and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans,” Frank added.
Frank now faces the challenge of reviving a Tottenham side that finished a dismal 17th in the Premier League.
Despite their triumph in the Europa League final against Manchester United, which secured Champions League football for next season, Spurs endured one of their worst domestic campaigns in recent history, losing 22 of their 38 games.
Ironically, Brentford ended the season seven places and 18 points ahead of Tottenham, underscoring the magnitude of the task facing Frank.
He becomes the fourth permanent manager at Spurs since 2021, inheriting a squad in need of identity, consistency, and confidence.
Postecoglou’s short tenure at Tottenham ended after just two seasons, despite lifting the club’s first European trophy in 41 years. His league failure proved costly and paved the way for a new direction under Frank.
Tottenham’s hierarchy believes Frank brings a modern tactical approach, a proven track record of player development, and the leadership qualities needed to restore the club’s place among the Premier League’s elite.
Supporters will now be hoping that the man who built Brentford into a Premier League force can do the same with a Spurs side in urgent need of transformation.
