The institution clarified on Friday that the adjustment affects only newly admitted students and does not apply to returning students.
Mr Isaac Oluyi, the Public Relations Officer of UNIMED Ondo, emphasised that the claims circulating in the media are misleading.
He urged parents and stakeholders to disregard any misinformation regarding fees for returning students.
“It is important to set the record straight: no fees have been increased for returning undergraduates,” Oluyi said. “Only new students, particularly those enrolling in professional programmes, face a slight fee adjustment.” The university described the decision as necessary to maintain high standards in medical and health sciences education.
UNIMED Ondo, Nigeria’s first specialised medical university, established in 2015, continues to prioritise transparency in its fee structure.
The fees vary widely across different courses, ranging from N150,000 to N450,000, depending on the programme.
The university further reassured the public that there are no hidden charges and that they remain sensitive to the country’s economic challenges.
Stakeholders are encouraged to contact the institution directly for accurate information.
