In a tragic update on a recent boat mishap, a 20 passenger capacity boat named Oluwaseyifunmi, traveling from Addax to Ipakodo, was involved in an accident around Ibeshe this evening.

The incident, which allegedly occurred at 7.17pm, has resulted in the loss of lives and several passengers still missing.
According to reports, the boat, carrying 14 passengers, encountered difficulties along its route.
Local operators in the area played a pivotal role in rescuing nine passengers, while three individuals were tragically pronounced dead. Additionally, two passengers remain missing, adding to the urgency of ongoing recovery efforts.
All the rescued passengers were taken to Ibeshe terminal, while the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority LASEMA and the State Environmental Health Management Unit SEHMU have been alerted about the incident
As the search and recovery efforts continue, authorities are urging caution and vigilance when navigating the waterways, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent further tragedies.
