Nigerian singer Anthony Ebuka Victor, known professionally as Victony, has opened up about his ongoing recovery process after undergoing four surgeries, with a fifth surgery on the horizon.
In a recent interview on the Adesope Live segment at the Afroland festival, Victony discussed the aftermath of a severe car accident in 2021 that left him in a coma for four days. Despite the physical challenges, he is gearing up for a North American tour and continues to perform and record music.
“Honestly, I am blessed and the world can see. I’m still in the recovery phase but I’m still able to do this now. And I’m about to go on tour,” Victony shared. “Thinking about last year, even up until recently, I have done 4 surgeries and I am still going to do one more after the tour. But it’s still a blessing. Going in and out of the hospital.”
The singer revealed that he relies on pain relievers before going on stage to manage the pain. He expressed gratitude for his ability to continue his music career despite the hardships.
“I take pain relievers before I go on stage and I still record. I thank God for his grace, it is not by power. I’m not his favourite child so I don’t know why he is blessing me,” Victony added.
In February 2023, Victony announced a two-month break from music following his third surgery. His resilience and determination have inspired many, as he prepares to bring his music to fans in North America while continuing his recovery journey.
