[dropcap]V[/dropcap]ictor Osimhen displayed a heartfelt gesture on Sunday, dedicating his two goals in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Samsunspor to his injured teammate Mauro Icardi.
The Nigerian forward, on loan from Napoli, marked his brace by holding up Icardi’s jersey in front of fans at RAMS Park in Istanbul, demonstrating his support for the Argentine, who recently suffered a severe knee injury.

Osimhen opened the scoring just three minutes into the Turkish Super Lig Game Week 12 fixture and added another goal in the 55th minute, shortly after Samsunspor’s Jules Ntcham equalised from the penalty spot.
The win solidified Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the Turkish league, with Osimhen’s presence proving essential as he extended his record to six goals in six league appearances, and eight in nine matches across all competitions since joining in September.
The celebration highlighted the close camaraderie Osimhen shares with Icardi and other former teammates, including Dries Mertens, from his time at Napoli.
Together, they have formed a formidable attacking trio at Galatasaray, contributing to the club’s strong position both domestically and in European competitions.
Galatasaray announced on Sunday that Icardi, 31, will undergo surgery after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture and meniscus damage during their recent 3-2 Europa League win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The injury forced Icardi off the field on a stretcher, marking a significant setback for the striker who has already missed time this season due to a separate muscle injury.
A statement from the club confirmed, “Our player, who is scheduled for surgery, has started rehabilitation before surgery.”
As Icardi begins his recovery journey, Osimhen’s tribute serves as a reminder of the team’s solidarity and commitment to success, even amidst injury setbacks.
Galatasaray currently sit at the top of the Turkish Super Lig and third in their Europa League group, with the squad’s unity and competitive spirit showing promise for the season ahead.
