The presiding judge, Justice Catherine Ogunsanya, ruled that the impeachment carried out by seven local government councillors was unlawful and therefore void.
The impeachment followed a letter Adedayo wrote alleging that the Ogun State Government had failed to remit federal allocations to the state’s local governments.
Adedayo had challenged the councillors’ action in court through his legal team, CitiPoint Chambers, represented by Barrister Tesleem Adewuyi.
In addition to nullifying the impeachment, Justice Ogunsanya ordered the Ijebu East Local Government to pay N30 million in damages to Adedayo and to restore all entitlements due to him as a former chairman.
