The esteemed honour was bestowed upon him at the Energy Times Magazine’s Awards ceremony, held last Friday at the Oriental Hotel.
The evening proved to be a double celebration for the prominent oil mogul, as Oando PLC also clinched the Emerging Major Oil Company of the Year award.
This latest recognition underscores a remarkable period of success for Mr Tinubu and his firm, who have now received an impressive three awards this year alone, all acknowledging their significant and unprecedented contributions to Nigeria’s vital oil and gas sector.
Earlier in the year, in February, Oando’s transformative $783 million acquisition of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company from the Italian energy giant Eni was recognised as the Energy Deal of the Year 2024 at the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2025.
This landmark deal has been widely lauded for its strategic importance within the Nigerian energy landscape.
Furthermore, Mr Tinubu’s astute leadership and investment acumen were acknowledged in February at the annual awards ceremony organised by Daily Telegraph Publishing Company Limited, the publishers of New Telegraph newspapers, where he was named Investor of the Year.
The second edition of the Energy Times Awards also celebrated other notable figures in the Nigerian energy and public sectors. Among the distinguished award recipients were the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji; the former Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engineer Mele Kolo Kyari; the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPR), Engineer Ahmed Farouk; and the immediate-past and first female Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), Mrs Elohor Aiboni.
