President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day speech reassured Nigerians about economic reforms and security improvements while promoting national unity
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n his broadcast marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to tackling the nation’s economic and security challenges.

Acknowledging the struggles of citizens, he urged patience as the country navigates reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and securing the future.
President Tinubu highlighted the progress in the fight against terrorism, revealing that over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders had been eliminated. He also announced initiatives to boost agricultural production, lower food costs, and promote economic growth through foreign investments worth over $30 billion.
Emphasising the importance of unity, Tinubu announced the forthcoming National Youth Conference, a 30-day gathering to empower Nigeria’s youth, constituting over 60% of the population. The conference aims to address issues such as employment, innovation, and social justice, engaging young people in the nation’s development.
Tinubu also stressed the importance of fiscal reforms, noting the administration’s success in reducing the debt service ratio and maintaining foreign reserves at $37 billion. Plans to stimulate Nigeria’s energy sector and further economic stability were also discussed.
