Wema Bank has disbursed N11 million to 131 women in Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to women empowerment through its 5 for 5 Promo

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ema Bank, Nigeria’s leading innovative financial institution and the pioneer of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to gender inclusion by disbursing a total of N11,000,000 to 131 women across Nigeria in the Women’s Month draw of its 5 for 5 Promo.

The highly anticipated event took place on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Aba, Nigeria, as part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to support women and promote financial empowerment.

The 5 for 5 Promo, introduced in 2021, is Wema Bank’s signature initiative aimed at rewarding loyal customers who actively engage with the bank’s products and services.

Since its inception, the promo has gained immense popularity, distributing over N150,000,000 to 2,378 Nigerians across all six geopolitical zones in the country.

In the current season, the promo returned bigger than ever with a N135,000,000 cash prize, of which over N50,000,000 has already been disbursed across daily, weekly, and monthly draws.

The Women’s Month draw marked a significant milestone as the bank distributed N11,000,000 exclusively to female winners, underscoring its commitment to female empowerment.

Among the 131 lucky winners were notable names such as Ogechukwu Patience Ani from Aba, Vanessa Chiamaka Ogbonna from Lagos, and Mubarakah Abisola Alowonle from Bodija, each of whom received N1,000,000.

In addition, eight women who hold domiciliary accounts won N250,000 each, while 40 others walked away with N100,000 each and 80 women received N25,000 each.

In a statement, Wema Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Moruf Oseni (FCIB), congratulated the winners and reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to empowering women. He shared, “Wema Bank was founded on the precept of empowerment.

Since 1945, we have carried on this legacy, promoting financial inclusion for Nigerians and empowering them with the resources to thrive.

For us, it’s about impact, and we are proud to have made a difference in the lives of 131 Nigerian women this Women’s Month.”

Oseni further highlighted the bank’s intentional efforts to address the gender gap and its tailored offerings for women, such as SARA by Wema, a women-focused proposition, and other customised financial solutions.

“We have leveraged the 5 for 5 Promo as one more way of supporting our women during this special month,” Oseni added. “It’s all about making an impact and putting smiles on the faces of Nigerian women across the country.”

This latest initiative is part of Wema Bank’s ongoing commitment to advancing women’s empowerment through various acts of impact.

From celebrating International Women’s Day with meaningful initiatives to providing loans and financial support, Wema Bank remains a financial institution at the forefront of driving gender inclusion in Nigeria.

The 5 for 5 Promo, which is open to both new and existing Wema Bank customers, offers every Nigerian an opportunity to participate.
