‘Why Nigerians should be patient with Tinubu, trust APC’

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Duro Meseko, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient and trust the ruling party and President Bola Tinubu to turn around the social and economic fortunes of the country, despite the failure of the past administration.

The appeal was coming against the backdrop of the recent criticism trailing the policies of Tinubu’s administration, particularly the fuel subsidy removal, which has brought pain to many Nigerians.

Meseko, during an interactive session with journalists in Lokoja, at the weekend, urged Nigerians to trust the present captain of Nigeria, Tinubu, to deliver on his election promises.

He described Tinubu as “an experienced politician, businessman and public administrator,” citing his exploits as Lagos governor and what he started doing in the first 100 days in office as President.

LAGOS State governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2019, Chief Owolabi Salis, has called on Tinubu to ensure fairness and equity in his appointments.

The New York-based lawyer and chartered accountant, in a statement, yesterday, against the backdrop of criticisms trailing the President’s appointees, noted that the appointments, ordinarily, should be an avenue to engineer national unity and cohesion.

Salis, who is also an expert in diversity management, said division was not an option for the new administration in view of current challenges facing the nation. He stressed that this was considering the division, which polarised the country along religious and ethnic lines, during the last general elections.

“As a diversity expert and somebody with a deep knowledge of Nigerian politics, one would have expected that anything that could further divide our people would have been avoided from day one. For a character like Tinubu and his party, the APC, they could have done better, going by the repertoire of experiences.

“Moreover, the Yoruba are for equity. They are known to harmonise diverse interests and bring everyone together; that is Yoruba spirituality,” Salis said.
