Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has denied claims on social media that he traveled abroad for more than N400 million.
A newspaper article claiming that the governor spent N170,276,294.31 on foreign travel and transportation, N221,567,094 on local travel, and N6,929,500.00 on private security within three months was cited in a press release released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris today.
The statement described the report as a fabrication by mischief-makers to distract the government.
Idris further explained that the misinformation might have been due to deliberate misinterpretation of budget data, adding that the First, Second and Third Quarters fall under the immediate past administration.
According to the statement, “we read a report alleging that Governor Dauda Lawal spent over N400 million on foreign trips.
“This is false and an attempt to tarnish the Governor’s image.
“The principles of transparency and accountability are the foundation of Governor Dauda Lawal’s government.
