The competition kicked off on Thursday at the National Stadium in Lagos, where the Elephant Girls triumphed 76-46 over Royal Aces in their opening match.

They followed this with another commanding 70-45 win against Titans of Abuja the next day.

Led by their captain, Theresa Ebiega, the Elephant Girls displayed determination, shaking off a slow start to dominate their opponents, much to the delight of their fans.

Ebiega expressed confidence in the team’s ability to reclaim the top spot in Nigerian basketball, stating, “We are First Bank; we must come first in all our matches.”

Coach Taye Adeniyi reinforced this commitment, vowing that the team would do whatever it takes to return to the pinnacle of women’s basketball in Nigeria.

First Bank, having had an unbeaten run in the Atlantic Conference, are looking to extend their form in the Final 8 playoffs. They face another test against Customs in their next game.

The Elephant Girls have a rich history in the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, having secured five consecutive titles between 2005 and 2009, with further triumphs in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
