Nigerian music icon 2Baba confirms separation from wife Annie Idibia, sparking heated reactions from fans and celebrities online
[dropcap]N[/dropcap]igerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has confirmed his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, in a series of social media posts that have triggered mixed reactions from fans, celebrities, and social media users.

In an initial post on his Instagram story, 2Baba disclosed the end of his marriage, stating:
“I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and [we are] currently filing for divorce.
I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”
Shortly after, he posted another message claiming his Instagram account had been hacked, adding:
“Efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”
However, in a later video, 2Baba retracted the hacking claim, clarifying:
“Nobody hacked my accounts. Na me yarn weytin I yarn. I come in peace.”
Public Outcry and Celebrity Reactions
The announcement sparked backlash across social media platforms, with some celebrities criticising 2Baba for bringing the issue to the public eye.
Media personality Toke Makinwa strongly condemned the singer’s actions, calling them insensitive. She stated:
“This is wrong on all levels.
You should be ashamed for bringing this here. If you think she is alone, let me tell you here that you will have to fight us all.”
Makinwa further urged women to stand united against any form of disrespect, asserting:
“If you sit on the fence on this one, it will touch your daughter or any female in your family. Timing is everything. Empathy is everything.”
Nollywood actress Mary Remmy Njoku also criticised 2Baba, writing:
“Bro, Annie has a family o! Since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala. Just make sure she’s healthy and okay.”
Fellow actress Uche Elendu expressed disappointment, stating:
“No love, no accountability, no loyalty… I am so disappointed at this betrayal and insensitive public announcement from 2Baba.”
Big Brother Naija star Nina Ivy weighed in, highlighting the importance of respect and mental health in relationships. She said:
“Ladies, you deserve peace and respect. A man who uses your vulnerabilities against you lacks emotional maturity. Protect your peace.”
Mixed Reactions from Fans
