Kenny Ogungbe on 2Face womanising

Kenny Ogungbe reveals how Kennis Music tried to shield 2Face from women during his time at the label, highlighting their protective role.

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ce music executive and CEO of Kennis Music, Kenny Ogungbe, popularly known as Baba Keke, has disclosed that the record label made concerted efforts to curb the womanising tendencies of iconic Nigerian singer 2Face, also known as 2Baba, during his time with the label.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Ogungbe detailed how Kennis Music actively shielded the young 2Face from the throngs of women who sought his attention.

“When 2Face was with us [at Kennis Music], we prevented him from seeing girls. Girls came looking for him all the time, but we didn’t allow him to see any of them,” Ogungbe revealed.

He further explained that the label’s influence waned after 2Face exited Kennis Music. “When he left our record label, there was nothing we could do about the situation anymore,” Ogungbe admitted.

The music executive also reflected on public perceptions of 2Face at the height of his career, particularly regarding his relationships and multiple baby mamas.

Despite comedians often making him the subject of jokes for his womanising ways, Ogungbe refrained from intervening, stating, “I didn’t call him to question him because he’s a mature man. Every man has his cross.”

2Face, who later married one of his baby mamas, Annie Idibia, in 2012, made headlines during his peak for his relationships and expanding family. Despite these challenges, his enduring music career has solidified his status as one of Africa’s greatest artists.

Ogungbe’s revelations offer a glimpse into the lengths to which Kennis Music went to guide and protect its artists during their formative years, shedding light on the dynamics between talent and management in the Nigerian music industry.
