A popular restaurant in Lekki area of Lagos, Kingfisher, has landed itself in troubled waters after breaching the state seals on its doors.

Recall that the upscale restaurant was sealed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) over environmental infractions.

However, while on a routine compliance assessment of sealed facilities last night, the Commissioner for  Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in company of the general manager of LASEPA, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, discovered that the restaurant had broken the government seals and was running operations at full scale.

The security support from the governor’s monitoring team was swiftly provided, leading to the apprehension of two restaurant managers around 12:30 am, with the assistance of the Chief Security Officer to the governor.

Many wondered if Kingfisher would be able to weather the consequences of this crime as legal proceedings are set to begin with the government threatened severe consequences for the disobedience.

In view of this, the commissioner sounded a note of warning to Lagos residents to desist from copying such acts.

“It is a criminal offence to break the government’s seal placed on any property or facility for contravening the law. Anyone or group of people found guilty would be prosecuted following the appropriate law,” he stated.
