The company, reportedly valued at over $1 billion, has raised more than $230 million in funding to develop spatial intelligence systems, which it describes as “Large World Models” (LWMs).
These systems are designed to surpass the limitations of current generative AI models by allowing AI to interact with the world in three-dimensional space, taking into account physics, time, and spatial interactions.

The startup was co-founded by Fei-Fei Li, a pioneer in the AI industry and former head of Google Cloud AI. Often referred to as the “Godmother of AI,” Fei-Fei Li is known for her groundbreaking research in the field of artificial intelligence.
She currently serves as co-director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.
World Labs aims to advance AI’s capability by bridging the gap between traditional 2D generative AI models and spatially intelligent AI that can perceive and reason about 3D worlds.
