Sexual harassment in Kogi State Polytechnic

The Kogi State Government has taken strong action against lecturers at Kogi State Polytechnic for sexual harassment. Senior officials stated that several lecturers have been sacked or imprisoned for exploiting students, reinforcing the administration’s zero tolerance for such misconduct. The government urged students to report incidents without fear of stigma.

Ojodunwene emphasised that the administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, maintains zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

He stated that these actions aim to protect vulnerable students, citing a recent tragic incident where a student was murdered after being sexually harassed.

He also encouraged students to report any form of harassment, promising swift action. “There is no stigma in speaking up against sexual harassment,” Ojodunwene stressed, calling for heads of institutions to remain vigilant.

He warned lecturers that any proven case of harassment would be met with strict legal consequences, regardless of the offender’s position.

The meeting highlighted the governor’s firm stance against social vices, ensuring that such cases are dealt with according to the law to protect students and maintain the integrity of educational institutions.
