The arrests took place within 24 hours of the incident, as confirmed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior in a statement reported by Arab Times Online.

The robbery, captured in a 35-second surveillance video, shows one suspect, wearing a hooded top, exiting a white car and entering the exchange office.

Inside, the suspect is seen brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, intimidating staff before stealing foreign currencies equivalent to 4,600 Kuwaiti Dinars, approximately $14,918.

Authorities revealed that the suspects meticulously planned the heist, monitoring exchange offices from rooftops to identify peak activity times.

To further conceal their identities, they reportedly used stolen licence plates on their vehicles.

One suspect, arrested in Mahboula, admitted to scouting the location and alerting his accomplice when the office was free of customers.

The second suspect was apprehended at Al-Qurain Market. A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of the stolen money and a small bag containing crystal meth.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior confirmed that both suspects, along with the recovered evidence, have been handed over to public prosecutors for further legal proceedings.

The incident recalls past cases of Nigerians involved in criminal activities abroad. In 2019, Nigerians were implicated in an armed robbery in Dubai.
