Contrary to reports widely published back in 2018, new facts are now emerging that the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, may not be saying the whole truth concerning his ‘donation of medical equipment worth N1.5bn to hospitals in Iwo land’ during the period of Rauf Aregbesola as governor of Osun State.

Recall that it was published in The Punch newspaper of June 19, 2018, and quoted below:

A statement signed by the media aide to the monarch, Alli Ibraheem, said the gesture was Oluwo’s support for the health sector and Osun State indigenes at large.
“The medical consignment was facilitated by the monarch in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Young Adults of Canada (NAYA) since 2016.
“For those who know Oba Akanbi, he is never moved by money, he is consistent and endowed with foresight,” the statement said.

According to a source, the NAYA Foundation under the leadership of Shola Agboola, single-handedly facilitated, procured and moved the medical equipment to Iwo.

Agboola is a Nigerian-Canadian politician and president of Nigerian Association for Young Adults of Canada (NAYA), a body making significant impact in the welfare of Nigerian youths in Canada and beyond.

Through further probing, it was also discovered that the Oluwo of Iwo’s estranged wife, Olori Chanel Chin, also gave credence to this in an explosive interview she granted where she accused her former husband on several things.

At 18:35 minutes of the interview, the queen explicitly stated that the king lied about the medical instrument as he didn’t not contribute a dime in the procurement.

The source insisted that Agboola, on behalf of NAYA, procured the multi-million naira equipment from Canada, cleared them at the Nigerian port and moved them down to Iwo but it was surprising that the Oluwo of Iwo then claimed them as his project.
