The Ugandan police confirmed on Monday that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Lawal, a 29-year-old striker, played for Uganda’s top-tier club, Vipers SC. Reports indicate that he fell from the third floor of Voicemall Shopping Arcade in the early hours of Monday.

Authorities revealed that the footballer was visiting a Tanzanian friend who resides in one of the residential apartments within the mall.

According to local news sources, a friend of the deceased informed the police that she had left him alone shortly before the incident occurred.

The police have since launched an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and interrogating key witnesses to determine the exact sequence of events.

Vipers Sports Club released an official statement expressing their grief over Lawal’s passing. “We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved player, Abubakar Lawal, who left us this morning.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lawal’s family, club fans, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” the club stated.
