Senator Gbenga Daniel celebrates Oba Adetona’s 65 years of leadership, recognising his wisdom and dedication to Ijebu-land

 

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]enator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State and current senator for Ogun East, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, Ogbagba II, on the remarkable occasion of his 65th coronation anniversary.

The congratulatory message, published in the Nigerian Tribune, reflects Senator Daniel’s profound respect for the monarch’s outstanding leadership and contributions to Ijebu-land.

Senator Daniel, who also holds the title of Otunba Obalofin of Ijebu-land, expressed his “immense joy and profound respect” for Oba Adetona as he celebrated this significant milestone.

According to Daniel, the Awujale’s 65-year reign is a testament to his “unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and profound wisdom,” highlighting the monarch’s vital role in promoting peace, progress, and cultural preservation in Ijebu-land and beyond.

The Senator also emphasised Oba Adetona’s tireless commitment to the welfare of his people, praising the monarch for his remarkable ability to balance the demands of modern times while upholding the rich traditions of Ijebu culture.

He described Oba Adetona as “a true custodian of our heritage,” whose efforts have been instrumental in the growth and development of Ijebu-land.

In his message, Senator Daniel prayed for the Awujale’s continued good health, long life, and abundant blessings. He expressed his hope that “the legacy of your wisdom and leadership continues to guide Ijebu-land towards greater heights.”

The message concluded with a traditional Yoruba blessing: “Kí adé pé lórí, kì bàtà pé lésè, Kabiyesi,” wishing the monarch longevity and continued success in his reign.

Oba Adetona’s 65 years on the throne has not only shaped the destiny of Ijebu-land but also contributed to the larger narrative of Nigeria’s cultural and societal development.
