Leaders of the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc, a legacy party in the APC, have passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, dismissing rumors of discontent and defection

This declaration comes amidst concerns that the CPC bloc, once led by former President Muhammadu Buhari, was feeling marginalized and contemplating leaving the ruling party, especially following the defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The CPC bloc, in a resolution released yesterday, firmly stated: “Recent misleading narratives suggesting defection or discontent among CPC stakeholders are baseless, mischievous, and should be disregarded. We remain a vital part of the APC, fully committed to its leadership and vision.”

Signatories of the resolution included prominent figures such as former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Umaru Al-Makura, former Katsina State Governor and ex-House Speaker, Aminu Masari, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and others.

The resolution emphasized:

Unwavering Loyalty: The CPC bloc reaffirmed its “unwavering loyalty to our great party and express our strong solidarity with the administration of President Tinubu.”

Rejection of Defection Rumors: They categorically stated, “We have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave.”

Commitment to APC’s Ideals: They highlighted their role as a “foundational pillar” of the APC and their commitment to its “progressive ideals.”

Support for Tinubu’s Reforms: They expressed full endorsement of President Tinubu’s “economic and governance reforms,” acknowledging their challenges but stressing their importance for Nigeria’s future.
Call for Internal Resolution: They encouraged members with grievances to seek resolution through “established constitutional channels within the party.”

Unity and Stability: They urged all APC members to work together to “preserve its legacy and consolidate Nigeria’s democracy,” avoiding actions that undermine unity and national stability.

Enhanced Engagement: They called on APC leadership to “increase engagement with members at all levels” to foster inclusiveness and reduce tensions.

The resolution concluded with a reaffirmation of their “loyalty to the APC and our steadfast support for President Tinubu,” reiterating their commitment to the party’s growth and Nigeria’s progress.
