The ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, preceding the 27th Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.

The newly appointed INEC Commissioners are Abdulrazak Tukur, representing the North West region, and Sunday Aja from Ebonyi State, representing the South East Zone.

Their appointments follow their nomination last November and subsequent screening by the Senate.

Additionally, Ikpeme Ndem from Cross River State and Justice Buba Nyaure from Taraba State were sworn in as members of the Code of Conduct Bureau, further bolstering the nation’s governance oversight mechanisms.

Following the brief swearing-in ceremony, the Federal Executive Council proceeded into a closed-door session.

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Also present were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, among other high-ranking officials.

This appointment comes after the Council’s previous meeting on May 5th, where they approved the Renewed Hope Nigeria-First Policy, aimed at prioritizing the use of locally produced goods and services in government procurement processes.
