Adron Homes rebuts FIJ’s land refund allegation as misleading, malicious

Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. has strongly denied a recent report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), labelling it as defamatory and misleading concerning a land refund claim by a client in Ogun State

Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. has firmly rejected a recent report published by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), which accuses the property firm of failing to refund a land payment to one Mr. Solomon Oludare Akinbo.

The article, published on 22 May 2025, alleges that Mr. Akinbo was denied a refund after paying in full for a plot at Treasure Park and Garden Phase 2 in Shimawa, Ogun State.

In a detailed statement, Adron Homes expressed its disappointment at FIJ’s decision to release the report without contacting the company for clarification.

“The report contains significant misrepresentations that we categorically reject as malicious, defamatory, and misleading,” the company stated.

According to Adron Homes, land was provisionally allocated to Mr. Akinbo based on his initial intent to construct a building on the plot.

The company explained that, under the terms of the Contract of Sale signed by Mr. Akinbo, final allocation is contingent on a formal declaration of readiness to build; something designed to prevent the proliferation of undeveloped properties across its estates.

The property developer further clarified that Mr. Akinbo voluntarily asked Adron Homes to oversee the construction of his building, selected a design, and was issued a Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

“At no point were Mr. Akinbo or his legal representative coerced into accepting our construction proposal,” the statement read, adding that clients are free to appoint any registered builder or engineer of their choice.

Adron Homes also addressed the issue of a refund, stressing that a clear and transparent policy exists within the sales contract.

The process requires a written request, return of contractual documents, and completion of a Refund Form before any cheque is issued.

According to the company, Mr. Akinbo and his legal team have repeatedly failed to meet these conditions despite being reminded multiple times.

The company further criticised FIJ for not presenting its side of the story in the publication.

“Despite their claim of prior outreach, the publication did not reflect our official position nor verify the facts before going to press,” Adron Homes stated, accusing FIJ of breaching ethical journalism standards.

In response to the situation, Adron Homes has formally demanded the immediate removal of the article from all FIJ platforms, a public apology, and the publication of a follow-up article that accurately presents its position.

“Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and upholding the highest standards of service,” the company concluded.
