The accusation went viral after it was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @AsakyGRN, featuring a video of the man recounting the incident.

In the video, he alleges that back in 2014, a then-unknown Omah Lay persuaded him to lend ₦12,000 to invest in the now-defunct MMM Ponzi scheme.

“He owes me ₦12,000. When he was in the hood, he told me to invest in MMM,” the man says.
“I said I didn’t do those things, but he convinced me. I gave him the ₦12,000.”

He insists that despite several years passing, he has not been repaid, and he’s now calling on the singer to settle the debt.

The story has triggered mixed reactions online.

Omah Lay has not yet responded publicly to the claim.
