APC victory in by-elections has re-energized Nigeria’s ruling party, positioning it as a dominant force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following a sweeping win across 12 of 16 contested constituencies, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has declared the results a “landmark” that reaffirms public trust in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
In a statement on Sunday, APC Lagos spokesman Seye Oladejo said the outcome was more than a win — it was a referendum on Tinubu’s governance and a public endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“With APC dominance reaffirmed, the stage is set for a grand 2027 showdown,” Oladejo stated.
He emphasized that the APC victory in by-elections demonstrated Nigerians’ confidence in the party’s strategic direction under new National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
This marks Yilwatda’s first electoral test since assuming office, and the party hailed it as a success driven by grassroots engagement and organizational discipline.
Oladejo described the victory as proof that, despite economic pressures and political opposition, APC’s message of reform, stability, and infrastructure investment is resonating nationwide.
From Edo Central Senatorial seat to State Assembly wins in Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun, and beyond, the outcome reflected growing approval for Tinubu’s administration.
Even in traditionally competitive regions like Taraba and Adamawa, the APC held ground or made gains.
“These victories are more than statistics; they symbolise the trust Nigerians have placed in Tinubu’s administration,” Oladejo added.
While the Labour Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) enjoyed digital momentum during the 2023 elections, they failed to secure any seats this time around.
Oladejo attributed this to a lack of structure and grassroots presence.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) managed just one win in Oyo, while NNPP retained a single seat in Kano.
Meanwhile, APGA, limited to the Southeast, secured two seats in Anambra — a result that didn’t alter the broader picture of APC’s dominance.
“Media popularity has not translated into sustainable political strength,” Oladejo noted.
As Nigerians look toward the next general elections, the APC believes these results serve as a compelling argument for continuity.
ladejo maintained that the party’s focus on economic stabilisation, security reforms, and national unity is starting to pay off.
“When 2027 comes, Nigerians will remember who stood firm in uncertainty, who led with courage, and who delivered results,” he said.
Congratulations poured in for APC members, supporters, and leaders nationwide.
With the APC victory in by-elections, the party believes the future looks “brighter than ever.”
