The Sani Zekeri’s misappropriation case sees Vital Construction’s operations manager arraigned for allegedly stealing N100 million, highlighting a major breach of trust

Sani Zekeri’s misappropriation case has taken a dramatic turn as the operations manager of Vital Construction Nigeria Ltd., Sani Zekeri, was arraigned before a Wuse Magistrates’ Court for allegedly misappropriating N100 million.

The defendant faces serious charges including criminal breach of trust, cheating, misappropriation, and theft.

Prosecutor Donatus Abah revealed that Suleiman Ahmed, representing Vital Construction, filed a petition with the FCT police commissioner on July 29, accusing Zekeri of siphoning company funds over several years.

Investigations reportedly showed that Zekeri used the misappropriated money to construct three houses in various locations, a clear violation of sections 289, 309, 322, and 314 of the Penal Code.

Zekeri pleaded not guilty to all charges. His defense counsel, Adams Inuekenhe, requested bail, citing relevant sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and the 1999 Constitution, assuring the court his client would not obstruct investigations if released.

Magistrate Sunday Adukwu granted bail of N5 million, with a surety who must be a public or civil servant at grade level 10.

The magistrate warned that failure to meet these conditions would result in Zekeri being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service Centre.

The case is adjourned to September 19 for further hearing.
