The Super Eagles camp in Uyo reaches full strength as Victor Osimhen, Chukwueze, and others join preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have reached full strength at their Uyo training camp as the team intensifies preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

New arrivals, including Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Raphael Onyedika, and Chrisantus Uche, have joined the team in camp, boosting both depth and quality as head coach Eric Chelle finalizes his squad for the crucial matches.

They link up with early arrivals such as Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers, completing the list of invited players ahead of Nigeria’s double-header against Rwanda and South Africa.

The team wasted no time in getting to work, holding their first training session on Tuesday evening at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The session focused on:

  •  Set-piece routines
  •  Fitness conditioning

Another intensive session is scheduled for Wednesday, as Chelle works to improve squad cohesion and tactical familiarity, especially with late arrivals being integrated into the system.

The presence of Victor Osimhen, Nigeria’s star striker, brings a massive boost to the team’s attacking potential.

Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess is expected to be key, while Samuel Chukwueze provides explosive pace and creativity on the wings.

New faces like Arokodare add versatility up front, while Onyedika’s presence in midfield offers control and dynamic transitions.

Chrisantus Uche brings additional options in central midfield, ensuring the team has tactical flexibility and squad depth for various match scenarios.

Nigeria will first play Rwanda in Uyo before travelling to Bloemfontein, South Africa, for their second qualifier. Both matches are crucial for Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying from Group C.

With points at a premium, the Super Eagles are expected to go all out to secure maximum points from both fixtures in order to solidify their path to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

After missing out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the pressure is on Nigeria to return to the global stage.

With a talent-packed squad and renewed tactical direction under Chelle, fans are hopeful that the team will live up to expectations and dominate the qualifiers.
