Paris Saint-Germain will contest their first-ever Intercontinental Cup final in Doha, Qatar, on December 17, FIFA confirmed on Sunday.

The European champions’ opponents will be determined just four days prior in the Challenger Cup final.
The Challenger Cup will see Egyptian club Pyramids, the African champions, face the winner of a clash between Cruz Azul of Mexico and the eventual Copa Libertadores champion.
The South American tournament is currently at the semi-final stage, featuring Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Flamengo, alongside Ecuador’s LDU Quito and Argentina’s Racing. The Copa Libertadores final is scheduled for November 29.
From 1960 to 2004, the Intercontinental Cup traditionally matched European and South American champions.
In 2005, it was replaced by the Club World Cup to include other continental winners, but this year the tournament was relaunched as a 32-team quadrennial event, with Chelsea emerging as the inaugural champions of the new format. Last year, the Intercontinental Cup returned when Real Madrid defeated Mexican club Pachuca.
Paris Saint-Germain’s appearance marks a historic milestone for the club and underscores their continued rise on the global football stage.
