Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu faces EFCC charges for allegedly stealing ₦200m from Travelstar Web Logistics while serving as its accountant

Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, an accountant and managing director of Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing ₦200 million belonging to Travelstar Web Logistics Limited.

The Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the EFCC brought Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday, 6 October 2025. He was charged alongside his company on 13 counts bordering on stealing and dishonest conversion of funds.

According to the EFCC, Nkwachukwu, while serving as an accountant for Travelstar Web Logistics Limited, diverted various sums of money including $36,000 and $156,000 entrusted to him for personal use, in violation of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

One of the charges read that the defendant, “being the alter ego of Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, dishonestly converted to his own use the sum of $36,000, property of Travelstar Web Logistics Limited, entrusted to him as an accountant.”

Another count accused him of diverting $156,000 between January and July 2018 under similar circumstances.

Oguibe pleaded not guilty to all charges when they were read in court.

Prosecution counsel A.A. Usman requested a trial date and prayed the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending trial. However, the defence counsel, Kelvin C. Uzozie, appealed that his client be held in EFCC custody, citing a pending bail application.

Justice Oshodi adjourned the matter till 17 October 2025 for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendant’s remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
