Omah Lay music industry Afrobeats sensation Stanley Omah Didia, better known as Omah Lay, has criticised the Nigerian music scene, describing it as “boring” and in need of a creative spark.

The Soso hitmaker made the remark on his Snapchat page, where he lamented the lack of excitement in the industry and hinted that he was preparing to reignite the Afrobeats spirit with his next project.

“Una music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to f**k up the continent in a bit,” Omah Lay wrote, suggesting that his upcoming release would reshape the African soundscape.

His comment comes amid growing concerns from industry peers about the saturation and sameness of Nigerian pop music.

Recently, Slimcase, known for the viral Shaku Shaku dance era, voiced similar worries, saying that the constant flood of new songs was stifling creativity and anticipation among fans.

Slimcase advised Afrobeats artists to release less music and focus on quality to restore excitement within the genre. He argued that oversaturation was “killing” the Afrobeats movement that once captured global attention.

Omah Lay’s statement has sparked debate among fans and fellow artists, with many agreeing that while the Nigerian music scene remains dominant in Africa, it may be losing the freshness and innovation that once defined it.
