INEC unveils AI-powered bot on Telegram to train election staff ahead of Anambra’s 2025 governorship poll

The INEC Training Virtual Assistant has been unveiled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strengthen staff training and operational efficiency ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

The artificial intelligence-powered tool, known as INECTrainingBot, was introduced on Friday as part of the commission’s drive to modernise electoral management through technology.

Available on Telegram, the INEC Training Virtual Assistant offers 24-hour access to official election materials, interactive modules, and on-demand lessons designed to help staff learn at their own pace and convenience.

INEC, in a statement posted on X, said the innovation underscores its commitment to improving capacity-building and election credibility.

“In preparation for the #AnambraDecides2025 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission is leveraging technology to enhance the capacity of its personnel and stakeholders.

“We are proud to introduce the INEC Training Virtual Assistant, ‘INECTrainingBot,’ now available on Telegram.

This tool provides flexible, on-demand access to essential election training, ensuring our team can learn smarter and be fully equipped for their critical roles.”

The commission listed the key features of the bot as 24/7 accessibility, a user-friendly Telegram interface, and mobile compatibility for on-the-go learning.

In addition to the launch of the INEC Training Virtual Assistant, the commission announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for those who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration in Anambra would take place between October 22 and 26.

INEC further revealed that a mock accreditation exercise will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, in selected polling units across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The mock exercise aims to test the performance of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and ensure seamless real-time result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
