According to a statement published on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) website on Friday, the ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. local time (7 p.m. Nigerian time) and promises to honour the continent’s brightest stars across multiple categories.

Nigeria is once again expected to play a central role at this year’s gala, with several Super Eagles and Super Falcons players among the leading contenders for top honours.

Victor Osimhen, who claimed the CAF African Player of the Year 2023, returns to the shortlist after another stellar season in Europe, now representing Galatasaray.
Stanley Nwabali, of Chippa United, competes for Goalkeeper of the Year, while Daniel Bameyi (Primorje, Slovenia) earns a nod in the Young Player of the Year category.

The Super Falcons and Nigeria’s U17 women’s team are also nominated for Women’s National Team of the Year, highlighting the country’s dominance in African women’s football.

The men’s Player of the Year list includes heavyweights Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi, Serhou Guirassy, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Victor Osimhen.
The Men’s Coach of the Year features Walid Regragui (Morocco) and Pape Thiaw (Senegal) among others.

In the club categories, Moroccan sides RS Berkane and AS FAR, Egypt’s Pyramids, and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns lead the nominations, reflecting Africa’s rich club football pedigree.

On the women’s side, Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria), Mamelodi Sundowns, and ASFAR are in contention for Club of the Year, while Desiree Ellis (South Africa) and Justine Madugu (Nigeria) feature in the Coach of the Year shortlist.
