JAMB issues 2026 UTME registration guide for candidates

JAMB issues 2026 UTME registration guide, detailing steps, warnings, and solutions for profile code generation and candidate preparation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a detailed guide for candidates preparing to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The announcement was made on the Board’s official X handle on Sunday.

JAMB emphasised that all personal information, particularly data linked to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), must be accurate before registration begins.

Once a profile code is generated, it cannot be changed, as candidate biodata is automatically retrieved from NIMC’s database.

Profile Code Generation
Candidates are instructed to send their 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019 or 66019 in the correct format to generate a profile code.

The Board highlighted common issues such as “Record Not Found,” “Wrong Parameter,” or “NIN already registered,” providing solutions including visiting NIMC offices or resending messages in the correct format.

Registration Steps
Candidates must register at an approved JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, purchase e-PINs through authorised channels, use the correct registration template, and confirm all details before submission.

Candidate Tips
JAMB also advised candidates to ensure NIMC records are correct, use unique GSM numbers and email addresses, resolve biometric issues at JAMB offices, and utilise a dual-screen system to verify photographs and biometric data in real time.

The 2026 UTME registration will be open from January to March 2026, giving candidates sufficient time to complete all steps correctly.
