Dominic Nwuzor, former manager of late Nollywood star Mr Ibu, has appealed to the Enugu State Government to offer scholarships to the actor’s children
Mr Dominic Nwuzor, former manager of late Nollywood comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to the Enugu State Government to provide scholarship support for the late actor’s children.

Nwuzor made the appeal on Monday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
The Chief Executive Officer of Don Singles International said he managed the late actor for over two decades before his death in March 2024 and described the appeal as a call to secure the children’s future through education.
He urged the Enugu State Government to consider the children, who hail from Nkanu West Local Government Area, as part of its broader efforts to strengthen access to education through targeted scholarships.
According to him, such support would help the children become self-reliant following the loss of their father, who was one of Nigeria’s most celebrated entertainers.
“We have appealed for scholarship opportunities for the children and will continue to do so, so that something can be done,” Nwuzor said.
He praised Governor Peter Mbah for his commitment to education and social welfare, expressing optimism that the state would respond positively.
“His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, is a leader with a large heart and does not take lightly the education of the people, especially the vulnerable ones,” he said.
“We hope he will consider offering scholarships to the offspring of the man who used his talent to make the state proud across Africa and beyond.”
Mr Ibu is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most beloved comic actors, known for his effortless humour, expressive facial gestures, and memorable portrayal of foolish or clumsy characters.
His performances endeared him to audiences across Africa, earning him the nickname “The Man Who Made Africa Laugh.”

He rose to continental fame through the popular Mr Ibu movie franchise, which cemented his status as a household name in African comedy.
