NABTEB registration extension approved for 2026 entrance exam as board assures seamless process and wider access

The National Business and Technical Examination Board has announced a NABTEB registration extension for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into Technical Colleges, assuring stakeholders of a seamless and stress free process.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the board, Aminu Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Benin through the Deputy Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah.

Mohammed said the board had approved a four month registration window in order to ease pressure on candidates and their families and improve access to the examination.

According to him, registration for the examination will commence on January 26 and close on May 24, while the examination itself will be conducted nationwide on June 6.

He explained that the decision followed the approval of the 2026 examination and registration framework by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.

The registrar said the NABTEB registration extension was a deliberate policy step designed to allow adequate preparation, reduce congestion on the registration platform and minimise financial and logistical challenges faced by parents and guardians.

Mohammed added that the board had strengthened its administrative and technological systems to ensure the registration process remained user friendly, accessible and reliable.

He said comprehensive measures had been put in place to guarantee a smooth registration experience for candidates, parents, guardians and schools while maintaining high standards of examination integrity.

The NABTEB chief executive urged prospective candidates to register only through the official online portal and warned against the use of unauthorised agents or third party platforms.

He advised candidates and guardians to complete their registration well ahead of the deadline in order to avoid last minute difficulties.

Mohammed reaffirmed the board’s commitment to professionalism and transparency, stressing that NABTEB remained focused on expanding access to technical education while safeguarding the credibility of its examinations.

He also encouraged Nigerians to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training, describing it as a powerful pathway to employable skills, entrepreneurship and economic self reliance.

Mohammed added that NABTEB would continue to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to strengthen skills based education and support Nigeria’s human capital development objectives.
