Nollywood actress Arewa Bukky Amos-Bello honours her late father with a grand funeral celebration at UI Ibadan, attended by stars, dignitaries and family

Society figures, Nollywood stars, business associates, and family members gathered at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, as US-based Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Arewa Bukky Amos-Bello, hosted an elaborate funeral reception in honour of her late father, Pa Amos Olaniyi Folorunsho Oladapo.

The 5,000-capacity Professor Oristsejolomi Thomas Hall was filled to the brim as guests adorned in colourful ankara, lace, and elegant aso ebi fabrics occupied every available space. Event organisers had to create additional outdoor arrangements to accommodate the overflow of well-wishers.

The ceremony blended solemn remembrance with vibrant celebration. A top music artiste and a popular DJ kept the atmosphere lively, making the event one of the most talked-about social gatherings in Ibadan that day.

The grandeur of the occasion reflected not only Bukky’s status but also the goodwill she enjoys among colleagues and friends for her humanitarian gestures and generosity.

Friends and associates flew in from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other countries to honour the memory of Pa Oladapo and stand by Bukky and her family.

Nollywood personalities in attendance included Bimbo Oshin, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Kayode Olaiya (Aderupoko), Feyikemi Olayinka, Ajala Jalingo, Adewale Abdulrasak (Sokoti), Babatunde Bamgbode (Fokoko), Rotimi Makinde, Wunmi Toriola, Antar Laniyan, Yemi Amodu, Rukayat Lawal (Iyaibadansneh), and celebrity lawyer Ope Banwo, among many others.

Rather than a strictly somber affair, the event served as a celebration of life, blending culture, fashion, and heartfelt tributes in honour of a respected patriarch.

Pa Oladapo, fondly called ‘Baba L’oko’, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 99.

A devout Christian and respected community figure, he was remembered as a stabilising force whose counsel, prayers, and support shaped the lives of his children and those around him.

Reflecting on cherished memories with her father, Bukky said his legacy would continue to guide her and her siblings, noting that his presence and influence would be sorely missed by the family and the community.
