Veteran Nollywood actress Mama Awero says she will die acting, reflecting on her six-decade career and early theatre days
Veteran Nollywood actress Olanrewaju Hassan Adeshina, popularly known as Mama Awero, has declared that acting remains the only profession she knows and intends to continue practising for the rest of her life.

The 75-year-old screen icon, who began her career in 1964, made the remarks in a recent interview, stating that her life has been built entirely around the craft.
“I will die acting. I have been doing this since 1964 and I don’t know how to do anything else aside from acting,” she said. “I am also knowledgeable in film costuming because I learned that from my bosses in my early days as an actress.”
Reflecting on her early theatre days, Mama Awero disclosed lesser-known members of the Awada Keri Keri theatre group, noting that several prominent actors started their careers there.
She revealed that Sola Sobowale was part of the group, alongside notable figures such as Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello; Ladipo Johnson, widely known as Papi Luwe; Jide Kosoko; Yomi Fash-Lanso; Ronke Odusanya; Kunle Afod; Funmi Martins; and Dele Odule.
According to her, many of these actors began their professional journeys with the troupe before rising to prominence in the Nigerian film industry.

Mama Awero remains a respected figure in Nollywood, with a career spanning over six decades since her early involvement with the Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group.
