FG approves N2bn grants for Tinubu Polytechnic, Epe University

The FG approves N2bn take-off grants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, Abuja, and Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe, to boost operations

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved N2 billion each as take-off grants for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic and the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe. The grants aim to support the early operations of the newly established institutions.

The announcement was made by the Dr Tunji Alausa on Thursday during the inauguration of key officials appointed to lead the two institutions, according to Arise News.

Among the appointees were Prof Nosiru Onibon; Prof Adeola Oshikoya; and Dr Angela Ajala.

Presenting the letters of appointment in Abuja, Alausa described the new institutions as part of the federal government’s strategy to expand access to higher education and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in science, technology, and innovation.

“Every child in this country deserves access to the highest quality education comparable to global standards. The appointees were carefully selected based on their record of service and achievements across Nigeria’s educational institutions,” Alausa said.

He added that the N2 billion take-off grants for each school are meant to help establish essential administrative and academic structures as the institutions commence operations.

Highlighting the strategic location of the schools, the minister said the institutions would harness local economic potential and human resources to support national development.

He encouraged the appointees to provide strong leadership that would shape the long-term identity and growth of the institutions.

“The Federal University of Science and Technology in Epe and the polytechnic in Abuja are expected to focus on technological innovation, renewable energy, climate change response, disaster risk management, and other research fields relevant to national development,” Alausa said.
