Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce 3-0 in Istanbul derby as Osimhen scores and title race swings firmly in favour of the league leaders

Galatasaray secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Fenerbahce on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in a heated Istanbul derby that strengthened their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig title race.

Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 40th minute at Rams Park, finishing from close range to mark his return from injury and give the hosts a crucial first-half advantage.

The derby result took shape after a tense opening phase, with early confrontations and multiple bookings setting the tone for a fiercely contested encounter.

Fenerbahce missed a key opportunity to take the lead when Anderson Talisca failed to convert a penalty in the 13th minute, sending his effort wide of the target.

Galatasaray gradually took control of the match and entered the break ahead through Osimhen’s strike, with momentum firmly on their side heading into the second half.

The visitors’ task became more difficult in the 62nd minute when they were reduced to 10 men following a second yellow card offence.

Baris Alper Yilmaz doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after sustained pressure from the league leaders.

Lucas Torreira later sealed the result with a third goal in the 83rd minute, completing a dominant performance that underlined Galatasaray’s title credentials.

The match also featured two disallowed goals for Galatasaray after VAR interventions, adding further drama to an already intense derby atmosphere.

The result extends Galatasaray’s lead over Fenerbahce to seven points with four matches remaining, placing them in a strong position to secure another league title.
