NFF youth coaching appointments see Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere named head coaches of Nigeria’s U-20 and U-17 teams
The Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday confirmed the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the men’s national U-20 team and the U-17 boys’ national team respectively.

The appointments formed part of a sweeping restructuring of the technical crews across Nigeria’s age-grade national football teams, following recommendations by the federation’s Technical and Development Committee.
In a statement released on Thursday, the federation said its Executive Committee had approved the NFF youth coaching appointments as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s football development structure ahead of future international competitions.
Maikaba returns to youth national team management with extensive domestic coaching experience, having previously handled the Golden Eaglets and served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.
The experienced tactician has managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Kano Pillars FC and Plateau United FC.
One of his standout achievements came in 2017 when he guided Akwa United FC to victory in the national cup competition now known as the President Federation Cup.
Uwejamomere, who takes charge of the five-time world champion Golden Eaglets, arrives with strong analytical and youth development credentials.
The newly appointed coach has worked with the Super Eagles as a coach-analyst for several years and also served with the Super Falcons technical crew.
He currently heads the academy structure at Sporting Lagos FC and previously held youth development roles with Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC in England.
Reports indicated that Uwejamomere emerged ahead of other contenders, including Olumide Ajibolade and Shola Adegun, to secure the highly coveted role.
Attention has now shifted to the national U-23 team, which remains the only age-grade side yet to undergo technical changes.

Former Super Eagles stars Samson Siasia and Daniel Amokachi are reportedly among the leading candidates for the position ahead of qualifiers for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
